The Making Of Herbal Textile

In this article we shall talk about some of the most important aspects of Herbal textiles, especially pertaining to the making of herbal textiles or herb infused clothing. It is important for you to know that there are many steps in the process of making herbal clothes. All these steps involved in the process of making herbal clothing are closely monitored. The yarn which is used for the manufacturing is one hundred percent organic. Hence, the fabric is also one hundred percent organic.



Usually what happens, even if no chemicals are used in the manufacturing of the fabric, when it comes down to the process of dyeing and the processing of the fabric, chemicals are used in varying proportions, however, in the case of herbal clothes, in the process of manufacturing herbal clothing, no chemicals are used. The fabric which is used for the manufacturing of the cloth is usually certified natural or organic cotton, silk, wool, hemp or jute, or their natural blend. 

As far as the process is concerned, the fabric goes through many stages and processes, before the final product is ready. We shall discuss De-sizing and Bleaching here, in particular. 

1. Desizing:

In this process the grey cloth is washed with natural mineral-rich water and sea salt. The process helps remove sizing, gums and oils which is a result of weaving. 

2. Bleaching:

bleaching is usually done here with biodegradable, organic cleaning agents and surfactants (examples are Saptala, Phenila etc) Natural sunlight is used to dry the same.
